GOVERNOR CALLS SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL VACANCY

Governor Stitt has called a special election to fill a vacancy in the office of Cotton County Commissioner, District 1, the Cotton County Election Board Secretary said today. The Special Primary Election will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2024. The Special General Election will be held Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The filing period begins Monday, May 6, 2024 at 8 a.m. and ends Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 5 p.m. Those interested in becoming a candidate for the office may obtain an official filing packet at the Cotton County Election Board or download a packet from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections. The Cotton County Election Board is located at 301 N. Broadway, Room 2. Green Space May Improve Young Children’s Mental Health

Researchers found that young children (two to five years old) living in areas with more green spaces had fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression. The results suggest that kids’ access to green space may influence certain mental health risks.

CU Advises Students To Complete FAFSA Now For Summer, Fall Semesters

Cameron University students who have not yet completed the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) are encouraged to do so as quickly as possible. For students who only attended Spring 2024, the deadline is May 3. For students who are attending Summer 2024, the FAFSA deadline is June 30. Although the deadline for the 2024-25 school year is June 30, 2025, students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA now.
